Description
Aberfeldy distillery was built in 1896 by John Dewar & Sons to provide whisky for their famous blends. Although the capacity of the distillery was doubled in 1973, it was still rarely seen as a single malt, appearing only occasionally in limited releases like this while part of the Diageo stable. It was only in 1999 that it was marketed under its own single malt brand, when a 12 year old was released. This Aberfeldy 19 Year Old is part of the 'Exceptional Cask Series', a collection of superlative bottlings hand-selected by Malt Master Stephanie Macleod. Aberfeldy is known as the 'Golden Dram' due to its water source, the Pitilie Burn, which is renowned for its rich deposits of gold. A longer fermentation time contributes to a smooth, complex, and fruity whisky with honeyed sweetness.
