Description

This Aberlour A'Bunadh Alba Batch 2 is a cask strength Speyside single malt whisky, bottled in 2020 at 58.7% ABV and released exclusively for the American market. It is matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon American oak barrels, a departure from Aberlour's traditional sherry-matured A'Bunadh series. The whisky is non-chill filtered and made from locally sourced barley. A'Bunadh, Gaelic for 'the original', refers to a time capsule discovered at the distillery in 1975.

Nose
Sweet orchard fruit aromas of fresh green apple and juicy sweet pears, complemented by delicate lavender honey, smooth vanilla cream, and zesty sherbet lemon, with hints of cinnamon.
Palate
An initial burst of citrus lemon zest and tangy grapefruit, revealing rich all-butter shortbread and soft baked apples, followed by a hint of sweet sugared almonds. Sweet with a creamy, oily texture, with elements of cinnamon and dried apple, vanilla, coconut, and a hint of toasted oak.
Finish
Smooth and sweet with a hint of toasted almonds, long, with a pronounced pepperiness.
