Description

This is the 10th batch of Casg Annamh from Speyside's Aberlour distillery. The name, meaning 'rare cask' in Gaelic, refers to its maturation in a combination of European oak Oloroso sherry casks and two types of American oak casks, including ex-bourbon and ex-sherry. Bottled at 48% ABV and non-chill filtered, this limited release offers rich layers of aromatic spice, fruit cake, and dark chocolate.

Rich and sweet with notes of tangy orange, glazed cherries, raisins, dates, anise, chocolate coffee beans, and bold, sherried oak, with a hint of ginger.
Palate
Sweet and fruity with apple and cinnamon crumble, ripe peaches, dark cherries, fruit cake, silky dark chocolate, vanilla fudge, and spicy notes of liquorice and cloves. Also, stewed fruit, pepper, honey, malty undertones, orange zest, toffee, over-ripe apricots, dates, plums, a hint of rum, bittersweet chocolate chips, and light notes of anise.
Finish
Long and rich, with lingering dried fruit sweetness, sultanas, honeyed flapjack, and a thread of dry spice.
