Description

Adelphi Private Stock 'Dancey Man' is a skillfully crafted blend of carefully aged malt and grain whiskies, with an emphasis on the Highlands and Scottish islands. It is put together in a solera-based system to maintain consistency across batches. The label features the historic 'Dancey Man' cartoon from the mid-19th century, depicting Sir William Gladstone celebrating a new law that improved whisky quality by taxing based on volume after maturation. This blend was originally created in 1993 by Charles MacLean and James Walker to meet the wish for an accessible yet refined 'everyday whisky'.

Nose
The aroma is a pleasing fusion of salty peat and estery fruitiness, with burning leaf fire smoke, wood ashes, dusty earth, sweet citrus, lemon zest, demerara sugar, vanilla cream coated tinned peaches, polished mahogany, sheep's wool, licorice root, and smoked, salty bacon.
Palate
Smooth and honey-sweet with a coastal quality, all-round nuttiness, and a medium-body. Sweet orange marmalade and honeyed vanilla sponge lead, followed by a light punch of boggy peat, savoury and smoky seasoning, bacon frazzles, whispy bonfire smoke on a salty sea breeze, butterscotch, wood spices, almond, marzipan, and canned fruit flavours.
Finish
The finish is long with beach bonfire notes, pear-drop flavours, freeze-dried raspberries, vanilla cream, savoury meaty notes, leafiness, lingering smoke, and salt.
