Description

Eigashima has been producing and selling 'Scotch Whisky' since the late 1910s. But after a slap on wrist, they stopped using the term Scotch and instead built a proper distillery to produce real Japanese whisky many years later. The company itself has had some experience when it comes to the spirit industry as it is one of the larger Shuzo producers in Japan. This Akashi 6 Year Old is part of 'The Colors of Four Seasons' series, distilled in April 2015 and bottled in May 2021. It is a single cask release, matured for 3 years in Sherry and Bourbon Casks, then finished for 3 years in a Yamanashi Winery Red Wine Cask.

Nose
Soft tannins, pleasant touch with cacao and berries. Varnish and beeswax in the background.
Palate
Light bitterness and acidity of berries and red grape skin. Powdery cocoa nuance. The gorgeous and powerful liquor quality reminds one of a lonely yet bright summer sunset.
Finish
Licorice and bitterness remain, with a long aftertaste.
