Description

Amrut Indian Single Malt Whisky Cask Strength is a high-quality single malt from Bangalore, India, bottled at 61.8% ABV. It is known for its distinctive character, often described with bourbon notes, barley statements, and a unique bitter-sweet overture with hints of blood orange citrus and delicate buttery notes. The whisky is matured in oak barrels, including ex-Bourbon and new charred oak casks, and is non-chill filtered. Due to Bangalore's warm climate, it matures quickly, developing bold tropical fruit, spice, and caramelised notes. It is part of Amrut's core range and has received numerous awards and positive reviews.

Nose
Salted pistachios, malt, hay, herbal pine, banana chips, orchard fruit, melon rind, wax and vanilla. Classic house style with glorious bourbon notes fused with the richest of barley statements; not entirely unlike caramelized biscuit dunked in coffee, with a bit of spicy attitude.
Palate
Waxy banana, malt, orchard fruit, melon rind, herbal pine, vanilla, pistachios, golden raisins, oak, baking spice and a touch of black licorice. A unique bitter-sweet overture where the oaks and barley appear joined at the hip; lovely soft oils give way to a sharp jolt of blood orange citrus, quickly mellowed by something more buttery and delicate.
Finish
Long and elegant, with the most intricate of fades—the oaks reveal layers of bourbon and then buttery characteristics; a trace of dark sugar and cocoa lingers. Waxy banana, oak, spice, herbal pine and pistachio gelato mix into one of my favorite fades in recent whisky memory.
