Description
Amrut Portonova is an unpeated Indian single malt whisky, known for its unique and complex maturation process. It is initially matured in a combination of new American oak and ex-bourbon barrels, then transferred to once-used port pipes imported from Portugal, and finally returned to ex-bourbon casks for a final rest. This elaborate aging regime imparts remarkable complexity and depth. The whisky is aptly named Portonova, after Parangipettai (Portonovo), a town on the east coast of India that was historically under Portuguese control. It is bottled at a robust cask strength of 62.1% ABV and is non-chillfiltered.
