Description

Amrut Portonova is an Indian Single Malt Whisky matured first in a combination of new American oak and ex-bourbon barrels, then transferred to refill Portuguese Port pipes, and finally returned to ex-bourbon casks. This triple maturation process, sometimes called the 'port pipe sandwich', imparts rich fruit flavors, vanilla, and coconut, resulting in an exotic and vibrant profile. It is bottled at cask strength and is non-chill filtered.

Nose
Rich and inviting with aromas of dark berries, raisins, ripe grape, and cherry liqueur, complemented by notes of dark chocolate, toasted coconut, vanilla, and warm spices like cinnamon and white pepper. Hints of fruit gums, strawberry toffee, cedar wood, and sometimes a sweet cigar or leather undertone.
Palate
Thick and chewy, coating the palate with sweet stewed fruits, raisins, cherry, and plum, alongside deep oak spice and cinnamon. A velvety mouthfeel with notes of bitter dark chocolate, grapefruit zest, and a bracing spiciness. Caramel, toffee, and tropical fruits like strawberry and raspberry also emerge.
Finish
Long and warming, with lingering dark chocolate, clove, and dried cherry, fading into toasted oak. Viscous and velvety, often with an edgy woody character, and hints of cranberry or spiced fruits.
