Description

An Amrut single malt, distilled in 2014 and matured for 6 years in an ex-Caroni rum cask (#5143) before being bottled in August 2020 at 60% ABV. This special limited edition was bottled exclusively for La Maison du Whisky as part of the French Connections Release 2020. It is non-chill filtered and offers a unique interplay between the Indian single malt and the influence of the legendary Caroni rum.

Rich and heady, with empyreumatic notes of petrol and sleet, syrupy cane sugar, dried flowers, ripe fruits (peach, Boskoop apple, Louise Bonne pear), candied lemon, malty, and brioche notes.
Palate
Clean and taut, a generous and exuberant attack blending rum and whisky. Floral (heliotrope, mimosa, carnation) and mentholated flavours appear alongside warm cane sugar and hydrocarbon notes, with Caroni gaining prominence towards the finish.
Finish
Long and silky, with rich notes of tarte tatin and raisin cake, honeyed acacia and lime blossom, spicy cinnamon and clove, followed by barley sugar, ripe banana, bourbon vanilla, and pecan nuts. Retro-nasal olfaction reveals coconut milk and praline, with malty and floral empty glass notes.
