Description
Since its establishment in 1815, The Ardbeg distillery has been on a tumultuous rollercoaster ride of ownership changes, closures, and reopening. Stability was only achieved relatively recently, when the ailing distillery was purchased in 1997 by industry giants, Glenmorangie. The subsequent years have seen the distillery's popularity swell, with fans enticed by the signature style of tarry, sooty smoke. Ardbeg Heavy Vapours is the 2023 Feis Ile release, an experimental limited edition distilled without a purifier, an apparatus typically responsible for balancing Ardbeg's extreme peat and floral fruitiness. This unique process allowed heavier and untamed vapours to rise during distillation, resulting in a full-throttle Ardbeg whisky. [2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 18, 23]
