Description

Ardbeg Kildalton is a limited edition Islay single malt Scotch whisky, released in 2014. It was created to support The Kildalton Project, a partnership between Ardbeg and the North Highland Initiative, a charity aiding fragile, rural communities in Scotland. This expression is a marriage of smoky and creamy whisky matured in first-fill and refill ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks. Initially available only at the distillery, it was later released in select European markets. It is bottled at 46% ABV and is non-chill filtered.

Nose
Intense and aromatic, with notes of peat smoke, citrus zest, vanilla, and coastal sea spray, alongside hints of sweet malt and spice. Also described as fresh sooty citrus, white pepper, oily elderflower cordial, green herbs, charred pineapple dusted with peaty vanilla, and smoked apricots.
Palate
Full-bodied and powerful, offering flavours of smoky peat, lemon, toffee, pepper, and subtle oak, balanced by a creamy texture. Other notes include sweet barley malt, aromatic smokiness, tar soap, exotic fruity notes, salt, menthol, aniseed, peppermint, espresso, and bitter almonds.
Finish
Long and warming, with lingering smoke, citrus, sweet spice, and maritime notes. Also described as fresh with menthol and spicy, with hints of allspice, clove, bitter almonds, and a distant vanilla essence sweetness.
