The sweet vanilla and ripe fruit have company here, rather than taking over: preserved lemons and pine needles bring a sharp, green counterpoint, while the finish returns to smoke, maritime notes and lingering sweetness. That balance is the appeal for me. The peat is plainly present, but it sits alongside fruit and malt instead of making the whole character one long smoke signal. A layered, confidently Islay-minded profile, with enough sweetness to keep the darker notes from having the last word.
Malt and sweet vanilla soften the long, maritime peat.
