Description
Murray McDavid was formed in 1996 by Mark Reynier, Simon Coughlin and Gordon Wright and was named after Reynier's grandparents Harriet Murray and Jock McDavid. It quickly became known for its irreverent tasting notes, edgy Gaelic slogan - 'Clachan a Choin' - and later for its ACEing process of finishing whisky in wine casks. They are based at Speyside's Coleburn distillery and in 2013 the company was sold to Aceo Ltd. This particular release is the first Ardbeg Single Malt Whisky from Murray McDavid for 13 years, specially selected by TyndrumWhisky.com. It was initially matured in a traditional First Fill Sherry butt for nearly 15 years, then re-racked into a Palo Cortado Sherry Octave for an 8-month finish.
