Description

The Old & Rare Range from Douglas Laing contains whisky that it believes deserves greater recognition due to the unique and remarkable qualities the whisky possesses. Bottled in distinctive squat bottles, this range of single cask whiskies offers relatively few examples due to the angels' share taken during the maturation process. This Ardbeg was distilled in 1972 and aged for 29 years, bottled in 2001. It underwent a finishing process of a minimum of 6 months in a sherry cask. Bottle Number: 146 of 235.

Nose
A marvellous, bold, and rich mix of gentle old peat, sweetish sherry, spearmint, asphalt, vanilla creaminess, maritime sharpness, tarry ropes, sweet seaweed, smoked bacon, and diesel.
Palate
A great marriage of peat and sweet sherry, with notes of honey, brown sugar, toast, apples, seaweed, saltwater, coal tar soap, sweet rubber, candied liquorice, lime and lemon candy, and subtle oak. Oily and chewy mouthfeel with a big smoky middle.
Finish
Very long, smoky, and slowly drying, with strong medicinal notes of campher, bandages, lemon curd, olives, and cocoa.
