Description

Since its establishment in 1815, The Ardbeg distillery has been on a tumultuous rollercoaster ride of ownership changes, closures, and reopening. Stability was only achieved relatively recently, when the ailing distillery was purchased in 1997 by industry giants, Glenmorangie. The subsequent years have seen the distillery's popularity swell, with fans enticed by the signature style of tarry, sooty. This special edition Ardbeg Rollercoaster Committee Release was released to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Ardbeg Committee in 2010. It is a blend of spirits from ten consecutive vintages (1997 to 2006) and was bottled at cask strength.

Nose
A mix of malt, cold wood smoke, and a hint of new make. Ashy and redolent of beachside bonfire, with juicy and sweet, fruit-rich notes. Smoke, black licorice, chocolate, charred scallops, seared meat, warm rubber, and a slight leathery note.
Palate
Quite big with a peat tingle, spices, tangy starburst sweets, and oily smoke. Big tart, green notes, black licorice meets blackberry jam, strong medicine, syrupy dark fruits, and lime zest.
Finish
More coastal, sweetness, cool smoke, medium to short. Long, sweet pipe tobacco, monkey nut shells, red wine gums, and a bit dry.
