Description

This 'Ardbeg Serendipity' is a Supreme Blended Malt Scotch Whisky, bottled in 2005, and aged for 12 years. It is famously known as an 'accidental blend' that occurred when some 12-year-old Glen Moray was inadvertently mixed with a much older Ardbeg, intended for a different bottling. The blend consists of approximately 80% Ardbeg and 20% Glen Moray, with the Ardbeg component being from a 1992 distillation. This limited edition release, bottled by Macdonald & Muir Limited (the former name of Glenmorangie plc, Ardbeg's parent company), offers a unique combination of Ardbeg's peaty character softened by the lighter notes of Glen Moray. It was a special Committee Release.

Deep and complex, featuring layers of dried fruit, oak, and a hint of spice, almond croissant with salted lime curd, tinned pears in syrup, barley water squash, subtle smoke, white pepper, sooty lemon, and vegetal and herbal notes.
Finish
Long and satisfying, with lingering sweetness and a touch of warmth, vanilla and lime sherbet dip, more smoked pear in syrup, doughy bread or cake/biscuit mix, and lemon barley.
