Description

A rare single cask Ardbeg distilled in 1972 and matured for 32 years in a single bourbon cask. Bottled in 2004 exclusively for the UK retailer Oddbins, this release yielded only 239 bottles. It is highly regarded for its intense peat, maritime character, and complexity, typical of 1970s Ardbeg.

Nose
Bergamot, lightly smoked teas, wintergreen, cough syrups, fragile ancient herbal liqueurs, and dried rose petals.
Palate
Syrupy peat, pepper, wormwood, tar liqueur, iodine, tiny sooty notes, earthy wood smoke, and camphor.
Finish
Long, hugely tarry and salty, with a kind of drying, waxy peat that glows in the aftertaste.
