Description

Ardbeg 34 Year Old 'The Abyss' 1989 is a limited release of 400 bottles, showcasing the distillery's commitment to craftsmanship. Matured in heavily toasted French oak casks, this expression has roots in the original 2008 Ardbeg Corryvreckan Committee Release. It is presented in a unique space-capsule-meets-diving-chamber packaging, accompanied by a limited edition graphic novel by Tradd Moore. Ardbeg, established in 1815 on the Isle of Islay, is renowned for its peated whiskies.

Nose
Rich, pungent, and aromatic, with notes of toasted marshmallows, aromatic tea leaves, roasted chestnut, baking sourdough bread, lemon balsam, demerara sugar, and antique leather. With water, herbal top notes, lemon sherbet, and pine resin emerge.
Palate
Mellow mouthfeel with spiciness, followed by bold flavors of dark chocolate, pecan nut toffee, old leather, clove, ginger, treacle, and creosote. The peat smoke is beautifully integrated with oak tannins.
Finish
Long, drying, and deeply layered with smoke, spice, mature wood, baked apple, and aniseed.
