Description

Bottled in 2023 and released in 2024, the Vintage_Y2k is a limited edition expression playing upon the Millennium bug scare of the year of its distillation. It was distilled in 2000 and matured in a combination of bourbon casks and oloroso sherry casks for 23 years. Ardbeg is a distillery located on the south coast of the Isle of Islay and is currently part of the Scotch whisky holdings of LVMH. This inaugural edition in the Ardbeg Vintage Y2K series was crafted with some of the very first spirit of the millennium, distilled in the historic still which served Ardbeg for 51 years before being retired in 2001.

Nose
Herbal, sweet, and fragrant with subtle perfumed smokiness. Notes of lemon balsam, linseed oil, candied walnuts, heather honey, and creosote.
Palate
Intensely sweet and effervescent with aniseed, toffee, digestive biscuits, peppermint, menthol, tar, and coffee grounds. Sooty and tarry flavours develop.
Finish
Long and lingering with antiseptic lozenges, bitter orange peel, and oak tannins.
