Description
Built to provide whisky for the Teacher's blend in 1898, this Highlander's main production is a peated whisky, but there is also a non-peated version called Ardlair (Ardless is its nickname) which accounts for around 40% of its output. Due to how prominent and significant its role as a base for a blend is, Ardmore is rarely found as a single malt, but a determined few followers seek it out as an intriguing dram. This Ardmore 1996 20 Year Old is a limited-edition single malt, double matured for two decades in first-fill ex-bourbon and ex-Islay casks and bottled in 2017 at 49.3%. Historically, Ardmore has been used primarily for blending purposes, making this 20-year-old official bottling a rare and well-aged expression.
