This is Edition 69 of the Whisky Sponge range from independent bottler Decadent Drinks. This 22-year-old single malt from Ardmore distillery was distilled in 2000 and finished for over two years in first-fill sherry wood before being bottled in 2022 at a robust ABV of 54.2%. Only 541 bottles were produced.

Superbly fat, earthy and chocolaty with delicate traces of game smoke. Notes of liquorice, cough medicine, farmy, and sherry. Also, butter, raspberry jam, almond butter, pipe tobacco, cinnamon, brown sugar, tar, nuts, orange peel, and toffee.
Palate
Chocolate, leather, earth, wood spices, wax, camphor, mastic, smoked black fruits, and a nice sherry influence. Also, bitter roots, earth, berry sweetness, walnuts, dark chocolate, almond butter, metal, sugary fruits, acrid charcoal, dried grass, mild herbs, and tobacco.
Finish
Long with tar resins, wood oils, leather, sooty waxes, dusty smoke, bitterness, mint candy, earth, dirty grill grates, and hints of fruit.
