Description

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society was founded in Edinburgh in 1983 by Phillip 'Pip' Hills who, while travelling around Scotland in the 1970s, fell in love with whiskies drawn straight from the cask. After he expanded his syndicate the Society was purchased by Glenmorangie PLC in 2004. In 2015, the Society was sold back to private investors. Nose
soft grilled peaches, butterscotch, and floral, lavender, fabric softener aromas, alongside a little sweet lemonade with a dash of lime cordial. The peat is there, but it's sitting gently in the background.
Palate
good mouthfeel, oily with grilled lemon, vanilla wafers, gentle smoke and a bit of cocoa right in the background. Good quality Arran as usual.
Finish
We're not really detecting any of the PX finishing cask.
