Description

Situated in the Firth of Clyde, the island of Arran was once a hotbed of illicit distillation and smuggling. Eventually though the dreaded Excise men got the best of Arran's renegade stillmen, and the island was without a working distillery from 1837. This is the second release in the acclaimed Devil's Punch Bowl series, subtitled "Angels & Devils", introduced in 2013. It is a vatting of 27 distinct Arran casks, selected by Master Distiller James MacTaggart, encompassing 17 sherry casks, 6 unpeated bourbon casks, and 4 peated bourbon casks, all distilled between 1997 and 2004. This limited edition release had an outturn of 6,660 bottles.

Chocolate, spice and cigar box. Dried fruit, vanilla, light cinnamon, nutmeg, earthy cigar box, malty, banana, citrus, subtle sweet peaty flavors, tobacco, marzipan, grassier, organic, mocha, and tobacco leaf.

Sweet and honeyed with balancing dry spicy oak. Vanilla fudge, dried pineapple, sweet sherry with bitter chocolate, tannins, dry nuts, oily and creamy mouthfeel, fresh peat, smoke, earthy, ginger, nutmeg, nutty, coconut shavings, mixed nuts, juicy prunes, dried papaya, and chocolate liqueurs.
Finish
Vanilla fudge and milk chocolate with light lingering warm spice. Citrus, smoke, spices, caramel, cocoa, earthy winter spices, long and drying, mildly smoky, aniseed, and licorice.
