Description

This Arran 1998 Icons The Westie Limited Edition is the third release in the Icons of Arran series, which was a 4-part collection released between 2009 and 2012, each paying homage to an iconic part of the Isle of Arran. This particular bottling, distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2011, immortalizes Ruaraidh, the Arran distillery's West Highland Terrier, who is pictured on the packaging and label. It was created from 22 ex-sherry hogsheads and released as a limited run of 6,000 bottles.

Nose
Lemony, citrusy notes with zest, apricots, and a subtle sherried character. Hints of toasted oak, treacle toffee, and orange zest. Fruity and slightly acidic with sour cherries, lemon sherbet, and fresh oak.
Palate
Big, bold, and very fruity with Arran's signature zesty/maltiness and pepper. Full-bodied and buttery with vanilla essence and Demerara sugar. Malty center with spicy and nutty overtones, growing warmer with apricots and noticeable oak.
Finish
Sweet and fruity, with coffee notes and nutmeg. Malty and smooth with plenty of spice. Medium long, drier, with leather and spices, and traces of mocha.
