Situated in the Firth of Clyde, the island of Arran was once a hotbed of illicit distillation and smuggling. That all changed in 1995 when the Arran distillery at Lochranza started production. The Venables is an 18 year old private cask matured in an Oak Cask and expertly crafted by James Mactaggart.

The full-bodied texture is the main draw for my taste, while the progression from orchard fruit to dried fruit gives the flavours room to develop.
