Description

The Arran White Stag Third Release is a 21-year-old single malt Scotch whisky from the Isle of Arran Distillery. This limited edition bottling, released in September 2017, was drawn from a marriage of two sherry hogsheads and bottled at a cask strength of 52.5% ABV. It is part of the White Stag series, chosen by the White Stag Tasting Panel, a community of Arran enthusiasts. Only 695 bottles were released worldwide.

Nose
Pronounced, expressive and balanced. Warm sweet malts, hay and grassy notes. Delicate spices, vanilla, honey, sweet oak, salty tang, and a coastal note. Hints of ripe pineapple and orange peel. Light polish and leather, with a background gentle char and doughy notes. Apricots (boiled compote) with citrus fruit, spicy lavender or wet heather.
Palate
Full and mouth coating, expansive. Malts, barley, hay, deep woody and vegetal flavours. Polish, leather, burnt tobacco notes, and fantastic salinity. Ripe fruits and flowery sweetness, developing into dark chocolate, marzipan, Christmas cake, tobacco, and a hint of coffee. Complex spiciness, heather and lavender impressions, white pepper, gingerbread and Christmas bakery.
Finish
Medium-long in length with a drying astringency, tempered by a peppery richness. Long-lasting and satisfying, revealing a gentler and sweeter side. Enduring depth with a touch of spice, evocative of a Christmas evening on the island, washed by coastal notes of the sea. Very, very long finish and the complex spiciness stays on.
