Description

The Ballantine's 40 Year Old is the oldest expression in Ballantine's core range, a rare and limited release blended Scotch whisky. Each component of this blend has matured for at least 40 years, drawn from a selection of barrels amassed over multiple generations from various distilleries, many no longer in operation. It is part of an ultra-limited series, with only 100 bottles released annually, each hand-numbered and presented in a wooden box.

Rich; Bursting with flavours of ripe pears in syrup, intermingled with rich fruitcake; A hint of cinnamon and root ginger in the background. Incredibly rich and fruity: bursting with flavours of fresh apricot, caramelised figs, Seville orange marmalade and charred pineapple. This intertwines with cinnamon, ginger spice and sweet, nutty oak.
Palate
Incredible depth; Exceptional multi-layered flavours of rich toffee and sweet soft red apple. Rich and complex: spiced red apples, homemade blackcurrant jam and juicy, dark cherries combine with notes of lavish toffee, dark chocolate, and warming clove spice.
Finish
Delightful finish that lasts an incredibly long, blissful time. The finish endures with a slightly dry complexity. Perfectly balanced.
