Nose
some pipe tobacco, leather jackets and mentholated notes as well as some varnished top notes. Damp warehouses, soot and flax. Chocolate and Schwarzwalderham in the background. Punchy pepper too. Sticky toffee pudding and maple syrup is joined by chocolate ganache and honeycomb. Air-dried serrano ham and poached plums sit with burnt toffee, ginger and nutmeg spicing and thickly applied wood lacquer. Sweet peat with a scorched and charred fruit-forward characteristic.
Palate
there's a darkness of soot and pure chocolate, but also a brighter fruity side. Cherries in booze, brambles, berry eau-de-vie. A little chilli and walnuts. Plenty of tobacco leaves and leather again, mixed with earthy smoke and a little oak char. Oily and greasy. An oak burning stove inside a felt-roofed potting shed where the owner is frying bacon lardons whilst making a supply of jams and preserves. Chilli chocolate joins leaf mulch whilst increasing ashiness sits with polished oak and a pot of creosote.
Finish
long, with pepper and liquorice, light soy sauce and bitter chocolate. Quite long with baking spices and persistent sweet, vegetal peat smoke.
