This Balmenach 9 Year Old 2016 vintage is a single malt Scotch whisky independently bottled by Signatory Vintage as part of their 100 Proof Edition #57 series. Matured for nine years in a single first-fill Oloroso sherry butt, it was bottled in 2025 at 57.1% ABV (100 Proof) without chill-filtration or added color. Balmenach is known for its robust, slightly spicy, and unpeated whiskies, which are predominantly used in blends and are only rarely released as single malts.

Rum-soaked sultanas, molasses, dark chocolate, toasted hazelnuts, peppery heat, muscular surge of treacle toffee, malty biscuit, clove-spiked caramel, roasted walnut, bright flash of candied orange peel, full-bodied and spicy, malt, honey, orange marmalade, pleasant oak spice.
Finish
Clove, bitter orange, comforting grip of seasoned oak, long, warming and gently drying, lingering sherry-soaked fruitcake, earthy oak spice, final flourish of cocoa-dusted malt, fine spice, subtle roasted notes.
