Description

The Balvenie 14 Year Old from the 'A Collection of Curious Casks' series highlights the Speyside distillery's signature warmth, enriched by its full-term maturation in American bourbon barrels. This limited edition was crafted through the collaboration of Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie and Samples Coordinator George Paterson. Distilled just after peat week, the unpeated spirit absorbed a subtle whisper of smokiness, complementing the rich character imparted by the first-fill bourbon casks during its 14-year slumber. This unexpected encounter has yielded a whisky unlike any other, celebrating curiosity and craftsmanship in every sip.

Nose
Sweetness, rich toffee, vanilla pod, and citrus peel with traces of nutmeg, smouldering oak, and honey musk. A surprisingly dirty, maritime character with salty sea air and damp stones, and a dash of light peat.
Palate
Creamy oak, honeycomb, candied orange peel, and caramelized banana. Light yet complex with vanilla sweetness, citrusy freshness (lime and grapefruit), chalky minerality, light-coloured fallen fruit, fresh grass, and baking spices (cinnamon and clove).
Finish
Long and pleasant, with distinct oaky spiciness, earthy and loamy nuances. Lingering hints of spice, vanilla, soft malt, and a return of the maritime, almost dirty character and light peat.
