The honeyed, fruity nose leads into malt sweetness, vanilla syrup and dried fruit. Oak tannin and spice give the lingering finish a firmer edge, keeping the sweetness from being the only thing in focus.
The combination of luscious malt sweetness and dried fruit gives this a clear center, while sherry sweetness and oak add a richer edge. Gentle spice and vanilla syrup bring another layer to the palate. The long finish, with oak tannin, spice and residual sweetness, seems central to its character. I’m drawn to the malt-led richness, though the sweetness appears to be a prominent part of the picture.
The honeyed fruit and sherry sweetness sound inviting, while vanilla syrup and gentle spice give the palate a softer side. Lingering oak tannin provides a useful contrast. For someone who enjoys fruit-led malts with a bit of structure, this is easy to recommend.
