Description

This Speyside single malt is blended from whisky aged in five ex-bourbon barrels and four ex-sherry butts, all aged in Warehouse 24. The blend from these nine casks was transferred to Tun 1401 - a traditional oak marrying vessel for several months prior to bottling. Released June 2012. It is a skilful marriage of some of the rarest treasures from the distillery's Warehouse 24 – an unrepeatable selection of spirits sourced from seven traditional whisky casks and two sherry butts, whose ages span a number of decades, and which have all been hand-selected by Malt Master David Stewart.

Nose
Deep, dark, thick and dried fruits; Musty Cherry, plum, fig. Thick and syrupy nose. Evolves at its own pace; cinnamon, nutmeg, chocolate chip cookie dough, brown sugar, then other sweet baking notes. Soft coffee in the background. Light wood shavings. Honey is also present. Polished leather, wood varnish, menthol and tobacco leaves. Shows some lighter touches with fresh apples, orange juice, and floral notes.
Palate
Smooth and easy yet flavoursome. Honeyed sherry sweetness balances dry lightly spiced oaky tannins. Full delivery, soft as a pillow, seduces the tongue with sherry chocolate, deep caramel, wood spice, and an assorted fruit basket that unravels like a flower blooming. Lovely citrus fruits, oranges, lemons and pink grapefruit, varnish, leather and menthol, with a whiff of smoke. Some notes of cinnamon, and a gentle peppery edge. Honey and oak are undeniable.
Finish
Buttery vanilla and delicate spice. Harmonious. Spicy and oaky notes at first, but then lingers on fruits for a long time. Long, honey, old wood, cappuccino, a ton of spice, vanilla, oak. Really long and slightly drying.
