Description

The Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch #1 is the inaugural release in the Tun 1509 series, which succeeded the acclaimed Tun 1401 range. This expression combines 42 carefully selected casks, comprising 35 traditional American oak barrels and 7 European oak sherry butts, which were married together for several months in the larger Tun 1509 (8000-liter capacity, four times that of Tun 1401). Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE hand-picked these casks, some of which reportedly ranged from 22-44 years old, with a decent percentage from the 1970s and early 1980s. Bottled in 2014, this non-chill filtered single malt was released globally with an outturn of 11,000 bottles.
