Description

A historic malt distillery located in the Highland region of Scotland. Since 1989 it has been Japanese-owned as part of the Asahi Group. Although it only produces single malt today, the distillery dabbled in grain whisky production from 1955 to 1984, even producing rare examples of single blends. This Ben Nevis 1997 26 Year Old was bottled in 2023 by independent bottler East Village Whisky Company from a Refill Butt, with an outturn of 142 bottles. It was bottled for Whisky-Maniac.de and is non-chillfiltered and uncolored. It received 90 points from Serge Valentin (Whiskyfun) and Ruben (Whiskynotes).

Quinces, malty, white wine, pears, thyme honey and fresh wood shavings.
Palate
Sweet-bitter start, fruity (quince and ginger jelly), honey, something that reminds me of kadu bouranee, superbly spicy and peppery.
Finish
Spicy and peppery, light bitterness, quite long.
