Historical context
1996 Ben Nevis single malts are revered due to their quality, as these were produced when the distillery was in a rebuilding period when Nikka had modernised production yet kept it traditional, and output was still relatively small. Brewer's yeast was used during this period instead of standard distillers yeast, along with long-fermentation times contribute to the bold flavour of these vintage single malts.
