Description

This 2025 collection from La Maison du Whisky's Artist brand celebrated its fifteenth anniversary. A historic malt distillery located in the Highland region of Scotland. Since 1989 it has been Japanese-owned as part of the Asahi Group. Although it only produces single malt today, the distillery dabbled in grain whisky production from 1955 to 1984, even producing rare examples of single blends. * *

Nose
Rich and deep. Slate-like minerality, medicinal and camphor notes sit alongside smooth chocolate, orange zest, iris and fresh straw. With time, the whisky becomes spicier (Espelette pepper), autumnal (chestnut, date) and balsamic (Oregon pine), while a refined rancio emerges with hints of apricot and cherry eau-de-vie.
Palate
Lively and bold. Café au lait, tropical fruits (mango, passion fruit), quince paste and marmalade deliver both body and freshness. Gradually, various honeys (heather, lavender) and red berries (strawberry, raspberry), mingled with rose petal and orange blossom aromas, delicately coat the palate.
Finish
Silky and lightly tannic. Notes of dried fruits (date, almond, chestnut) mingle with impressions of dry leaves and late-autumn warmth. Finding a second wind, it then sets off south towards Spain, where it absorbs flavours of walnut, curry, salted almonds, apricot, and mango pâte de fruit.
