Nose
A thick, malty nose with attractive aromas of polished floorboards and damp cedar, fig jam, ripe apricot, hazelnut chocolate, soot, trace lanolin, sweet oily notes, charcoal, light tobacco, bananas, cooked apples, raisins, orange peel, hot warming spices, cinnamon, black pepper, chargrilled beef burger, sweet sherry, new make, ash, smoke, Seville orange peel, toffee, subtle smoke, caramel, fudge, leather, menthol, oak, and light sherry influence.
Palate
Really dense, chewy, oily delivery; lively spices fanning out with a burst of sooty peat. Drying, but keenly balanced with smoke and fresh oak. Mildly peaty with ashy and tarry notes, subtle waxy notes, peaches, banana, leafy notes, hint of salted liquorice, green oak, brown sugar, burnt caramel, baked ginger, cakey, soft biscuity texture, oak, ash, barley sugars, porridge, pine needles, and wonderfully sweet sherry.
Finish
A small amount of water draws out latent fruitiness and sweetens the profile. Medium long and oily, on tobacco and oak spice, sweet sherry notes, ash, smoke, and spicy notes.
