Description

The Ben Nevis Heavily Peated is a small batch bottling from Elixir Distillers' The Single Malts of Scotland series. It was bottled from just 4 casks after 6 years of maturation, matured in first fill bourbon barrels and second fill sherry butts. The combination of peat, bourbon and sherry oak gives this bottling a fuller, more robust style than a straightforward young Ben Nevis, with smoke, fruit and oak all playing a clear role.

Nose
Peat smoke, bright citrus peel and ginger, unfolding into dark chocolate with a touch of tobacco.
Palate
Full and smoky, with peppery spice and orchard fruit, layered over sweet malt and sherried depth.
Finish
Long and warming, the finish coalesces peat smoke with bold oak spice, slowly fading to a lightly bitter chocolate note that lingers with quiet authority.
