Description

The BenRiach 16 Year Old is a Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky, aged for 16 years. The distillery, established in 1898, was mothballed for 65 years before reopening in 1965. This expression was matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and sherry casks. It was a highly regarded malt, winning a Gold Medal at the International Wines and Spirits Competition in 2006 and named Best Speyside Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards in 2015. The 16 Year Old was discontinued in 2016 and later re-released as 'Benriach The Sixteen' with a reformulated recipe.

Fruity floral notes with overtones of honey, vanilla, spices, toffee, and apples. Also baked apple, creamy hazelnut malt, ginger-spiced apricot, and hints of leather and milk chocolate.
Palate
Rounded, medium to full-bodied, with rich honey, vanilla, cream, spices, toffee, and apples. Spiced stewed apple, stone fruit, mellow nutty oak, honeyed malt, and candied peel. Also a creamy mouthfeel with dark apple/pear juice, caramel, smoked almonds, and nutty sweetness.
Finish
Medium to long, with oak spice, leafy notes, plain malt, and raisin sweetness. Lingering warmth with subtle hints of oak and spices, fading into a rich and satisfying finish. Rounded and creamy with honeyed nuts and dried fruits, and a hint of dark chocolate.
