The Benriach The Original Ten is a Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky, part of a new core range launched in 2020. It is three cask matured for at least ten years in bourbon barrels, sherry casks, and virgin oak, creating layers of luscious orchard fruit, sumptuous honeyed malt, and toasted oak, all interwoven with a subtle trace of smoke. A fresh and lively combination of crisp, green orchard fruits, stem ginger, tangerine, creamy vanilla, and a delicate note of mint, with a sweet barley back note. Hints of apple, plums, honeyed malt, and toasted oak are present, along with a subtle trace of muddy peat and tropical fruits.
Palate
Warm toasted oak spices, green apple skins, dried apricots, peach, and soft banana. Subtle touches of aniseed and lemon zest create a contrasting edge. Notes of tinned peaches in toffee sauce, spiced dark chocolate, toasted vanilla, peppery anise, stewed apple and pear with cinnamon & clove, and creamy baked goods with a waft of earthy peat.
Finish
Lingering fruity notes, soft vanilla, bananas in butterscotch, toasted oak, apricot, apple, nutty praline, and buttery oak, with a subtle trace of smoke.
