Description

This 26 year old single malt was distilled at the Benrinnes distillery in 1997 and bottled for the Cadenhead's Natural Strength Collection in Autumn 2023. Originally based in Aberdeen before being bought by the Campbeltown based Mitchell family in 1969, Wm Cadenhead's is the oldest independent bottler in Scotland. Now their flagship Campbeltown premises - located next to the Springbank distillery - also features their own shop offering a variety of bottled spirits from different distilleries. Nose
Ripe bananas, honey, coconut cream. Lemon zest, pineapple, burnt toast, malt, earth, hint of papaya, paraffin, guava, hints of pool chemicals. Citrus, vanilla, icing sugar, and a tiny bit of wax.
Palate
Salted caramel, melon, creamy vanilla ice cream. Medium body, a florist's shop in all its splendor, tons of fresh flowers, cut stems, wood spice, more lemon zest, mint, pepper, lots of tertiary herbal notes in the background, pickled watermelon rind, minerals, old books. Malt barley, lemon hard candies, and some icing sugar.
Finish
Honeycomb toffee, milk chocolate, caramelised rice pops. Long, more pepper and flowers, strong earthy dunnage, a bit of herbal meatiness (like herb-spiced sausage), melon candy, black tea, a little bit of plastic in the background. Medium in length, lemon shortbread cookies that are covered in a lemon-y sugar glaze.
