Description

Benromach's Peat Smoke expressions have long been rather popular, and now the series is enjoying its first variation - Peat Smoke Sherry Cask Matured! Peat and sweet come face to face in this 2010 vintage single malt, which was matured in first-fill sherry hogshead until 2018. It was bottled at cask strength, and 6,500 bottles were produced.

Nose
Rich smoke with fragrant vanilla and light citrus zest. Hints of apples and white chocolate. Dry sherry notes, dried red fruits, cherry syrup, honey-glazed, meaty, barbecue-esque peat smoke, hint of rubber.
Palate
Smooth with toasted oak, honey and sweet ripe fruit. Butterscotch and marshmallow flavours lead to a lemon sherbet alongside sweet smoke. Earthy peat and furniture polish with dried red fruit, meaty barbecue smoke. Slightly syrupy and oily, with a hint of dark chocolate. Sweet with warming white pepper, stewed prunes, sultanas and raisins before rich sherry and a hint of ginger.
Finish
Mouth-coating sweetness and bonfire embers. Lingering barbecue smoke and soft chocolate. Long and lingering with gentle waves of peat smoke. Short/Medium length with smoke, fresh ginger spice and a little oak.
