Description

Douglas Laing's Big Peat is a blended malt Scotch whisky comprising single malts exclusively from Islay distilleries, including Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Bowmore, and Port Ellen. It is a small batch bottling, without colouring or chill-filtration, and is known for its feisty, peaty, smoky, and oceanic character. This 'The Belgium Edition #2' is part of Big Peat's World Tour series, representing the essence of Islay in a bottle.

Nose
Opens fresh, salty and clean, developing to sweet malt dried over peat, with a damp earthy character. Hints of smoke, citrus fruits, sweet barley grain, and a faint bacon aroma.
Palate
Slightly oily texture, briny, ashy, peppery, with notes of sweet tar, beaches, smoking chimneys, and a touch of tobacco. Some sources also mention a bit of rubber and salty, chalky maritime notes.
Finish
Long and lingering, replicating the palate with salty, tangy liquorice, smoke, bonfire ashes, and a phenolic quality. It can be somewhat drying, with black pepper, tarry, slightly antiseptic, and dark chocolate and coffee flavours.
