Description

This twelve-year-old blended whisky is part of the Black Bull range, from independent bottler Duncan Taylor. The brand has been synonymous with quality whisky since its debut in the 1930s, with Duncan Taylor taking the helm in 2001. It is crafted from a blend of 50% malt and 50% grain whiskies from select distilleries in Scotland, matured for a minimum of twelve years in refill ex-sherry European oak butts and refill ex-bourbon American oak hogsheads. Bottled at 50% ABV, it is unfiltered by chill filtration, allowing the character of each carefully selected whisky to shine through. This award-winning dram has received numerous accolades, including a Gold Medal at the International Wine and Spirit Competition and Best Blend Age 12 Years & Under at the 2011 World Whisky Awards.

Robust, chunky aromas of sweetness, cereals, berry fruits, nutty, tangy, spices, cocoa, chocolate, toffee, sherry, vanilla, and lemon sherbet. Hints of honeyed puffed rice cereal, toasty sesame candy, salty, oily roasted almonds, corn, and mocha soufflé. Palate
Thick, rounded, smooth, and mellow. Notes of milk chocolate, treacle toffee, pears, green apples, and sweet vanilla. Flavors of lemon meringue, fudge, almonds, baked apples, and an initial sweet spiced attack of sherry, rhubarb, and creamy caramel. Rounded sherry, strawberry, dark malty elements, and pomegranate. Finish
Good aftertaste, thick and fruity with hints of under-ripe fruits and creamy notes. Heavier fruity notes emerge, along with raw chocolate and roasted coffee. Long finish evoking touches of wood grilled greens, chestnut honey on dark raisin toast, candied yams, cedar embers, salty sherry, molasses, oak, and espresso. Long, balanced, rich, and warming.
