- Nose
- Fresh and aromatic, with lemon zest, white blossoms, wet stone and a touch of green tea. Notes of ester and cooked fruit with burnt white sugar, a firmness and something vaguely vinous. Barley sugar and toffee, flowers, light honey, watermelon, pear, passionfruit, and greenhouse. A whiff of fresh-baked bread. Some lemon tartness, augmented into a buttery lemon cake. Sherry influence came forward as honeyed dates, fig, and more toffee.
- Palate
- Delicate and smooth, offering hints of light honey, vanilla, lemon infusion and soft spice. Elegantly balanced. Quite full and oaky, but with sweet spices creeping forward and a cereal, biscuity feel. Some port perhaps, here and there and lots of wood. Medium-light bodied but fairly oily and clingy. Fresh bread, toffee, lemon zest and pear, with a distinct salty note, followed by floral black pepper. Sour-bitter barley sugar, green wood and juicy fruit (watermelon). Deeper earthiness, like black tea and wet tobacco leaf. More fresh fruit and flowers, then finally some sesame-seed nuttiness. Sweet-tart lemon carries through.
- Finish
- Soft and medium in length, with a mineral freshness and lingering citrus note. Lightly grassy in the tail. A touch premature, but nonetheless pleasant, wood still lingers. Long. The sweetest part of the experience. Lemon zest, pear, and juicy strawberry, with touches of banana candy and bubblegum. More nutmeg, along with green wood and sweet tea. Sherry is a little more overt here, coming through as raisin and fig.
