Description

The oldest operational distillery on the isle of Islay, built in 1779. Today it is part of the Suntory Group, having been acquired by the Japanese company in 1994. Under their ownership is has been nurtured into one of the most collectable names in Scotch whisky.

Rich stewed fruit berries, sweet black cherries, dark chocolate, lighter Bowmore smokiness, iodine, marinity, licorice, and Port notes.
Palate
Warm and rounded, brambles, damson jam, subtle earthy peat smoke, green peppercorns, red wine, pipe tobacco, bittersweet honey, cocoa bean, vanilla bean, Islay brininess, and a slightly chemical sweetness with violet candies.
Finish
Warm and satisfying, lingering smoke and chocolate, smoky and sweetish with marine persistence.
