Description

The oldest operational distillery on the isle of Islay, built in 1779. Today it is part of the Suntory Group, having been acquired by the Japanese company in 1994. Under their ownership it has been nurtured into one of the most collectable names in Scotch whisky. This particular bottling was released in 1979 to celebrate the distillery's bicentenary.

Dense rich dark fruit, sherry sweetness, grapefruit, vermouth, iodine, and a merest touch of peat, complemented by tropical fruits, tobacco, and honey.
Palate
Sherry, complex dried fruit, grapefruit, citrus, dark sweetness, and a light dusting of ash. Hints of motor oil, eucalyptus, and subtle peat are present, alongside tropical fruits and spices.
Finish
Medium and rich with grapefruit, dried fruit, and a dark earthiness. Menthol, subtle peat, and lingering fruit notes create a complex and enduring finish.
