Description

The oldest operational distillery on the isle of Islay, built in 1779. Today it is part of the Suntory Group, having been acquired by the Japanese company in 1994. Under their ownership it has been nurtured into one of the most collectable names in Scotch whisky. This now very rare De Luxe single malt Scotch whisky, from Islay distillers Bowmore, was bottled in the 1970's in the classic dumpy style bottle.

Nose
sweet, tropical fruitiness (pink grapefruit, passion fruits, tangerines, overripe Cavaillon) as well as a rather bold peatiness. Some lime and menthol. Very aromatic and a wonderful combo.
Palate
more on fruit candy (oranges, peaches, lime), slightly less tropical. Also brown sugar, a little latte and milk chocolate. Very gentle peat and light herbal notes.
Finish
not too long, malty sweet, clean, with subtle spicy oak.
