Description

A storied distillery in the Sutherland area of Scotland. Despite having closed in 1983, it developed cult status for the high quality single malt it had produced, particularly a peated style between 1969 and 1973. Such was its popularity, it was eventually rebuilt by Diageo and opened again in 2021.

Rich sweet fruit, ripe figs, fire and brimstone, stewed golden apples, grapes, tropical notes of grilled pineapple and papaya, waxy/resinous notes, gentle peat smoke, menthol, verbena, teak oil, leather, subtle dustiness, drops of diesel.
Palate
Smooth, lightly waxy texture, powerful, rich, darkly sweet notes, savoury, smoky, oily, leathery, piercing salty and peppery side, marmalade, camphor, peppermint, herbal tea, tannins, cold smoke, flashes of pink grapefruit, mustard seeds.
Finish
Long and lingering with plumes of peat smoke, minty smoke, citrus, soft pepper, earthy notes, waxy, medical, elegant leathery peat.
