Description

A storied distillery in the Sutherland area of Scotland. Despite having closed in 1983, it developed cult status for the high quality single malt it had produced, particularly a peated style between 1969 and 1973. Such was its popularity, it was eventually rebuilt by Diageo and opened again in 2021. This Brora 30 Year Old Natural Cask Strength is the first release in the 30 Year Old series and was one of the stars of Diageo's annual Special Releases in 2002.

Nose
Peat straight up, with farmy, earthy, and old-school notes, mingling with light peatiness and fruits. Hints of citrus, apples, wax, caramel, honey, coriander, cardamom, and curry.
Palate
Extremely thick and full, mineral and salty at first, with a huge peat presence. Complex waxy, oily texture with balancing citrus fruit, peppery spice, smoke, and oak notes. Also lemon cake, iodine, apricot, char, orchard fruit, black tea, and minerality.
Finish
Long, with farmy notes, sweet fruits, oily, salty peat, malt, honey, lemon peels, orchard fruit, ash, tobacco, leather, and mint. Lingers exceptionally long.
